A Little Goat Builds the World is an incredible interactive storybook for iPad that takes children on a magical journey of exploration and discovery. Whether your child is still learning to read or you’re looking for a new book to add to your digital library, this is one that you cannot pass up.
I truly love interactive storybook’s, and A Little Goat Builds the World is one of my new favorites. Created by Kamil Kamysz, the story follows a goat who is adventuring through the landscape, meeting all sorts of characters and encountering many different types of situations along the way.
I’m a big stickler for animations and design when it comes to interactive storybook’s, and A Little Goat Builds the World definitely doesn’t disappoint. Everything on the screen is very sharp and crisp, and there’s a perfect balance between animation and sound effects.
According to the developer, “A Little Goat Builds the World was designed to help your child develop fine motor skills and eye to hand coordination by using different hand gestures (dragging, swiping, rotating) to trigger hidden events.”
A Little Goat Builds the World features something I’ve never encountered any storybook app, which is a “build your own story” navigation system. What this means is that the app consists of two separate pages, one on the top and one on the bottom.
Children can freely mix-and-match pages in order to create their own story. The best part about this is that the story is still coherent and follows a flow even when the pages are all mixed up, meaning that kids will never have to read the same story twice.
Parents will be happy to know that A Little Goat Builds the World is COPPA-compliant and does not include in-app purchases, advertisements, external links, or anything that might direct children away from the app.
A Little Goat Builds the World is currently priced at $1.99 on the App Store, but I don’t think that you should let this dissuade you. In my honest opinion, A Little Goat Builds the World is worth every penny.
Not only is the app incredibly well-designed, but the unique concept of a split screen navigation system and the ability to build your own story means this will easily become your child’s next favorite book.
A Little Goat Builds the World requires iOS 5.1.1 or later and is compatible with iPad.
