We’ve reviewed plenty of games here on iOS App Lists, but very few of them are as addicting as Hit The Pillar. This endless arcade game by Smilerush is a brand-new release that’s sure to keep you from putting your phone down.
Hit The Pillar is addicting!
The trouble with reviewing iPhone games on a regular basis is that I have to work very hard to keep from getting addicted to a particular game. Hit The Pillar really a challenge to put down long enough to publish a review, mainly because it’s designed to help players work towards something.
If you played games like Flappy Bird and ZigZag, Hit The Pillar is fairly similar. The goal is to go as long as you can and rack up the highest score possible. This is achieved by strategically tapping on the screen to make your character bounce off of a pillar. If you happen to miss a pillar, your character falls out of the sky and the game is over.
What makes it unique? Character unlocks!
What really sets Hit The Pillar apart from other endless games is the fact that you can collect gems and unlock 20 different characters. This is a refreshing change from other games where it seems like you’re mindlessly restarting levels in hopes of besting your highest score.
As someone who has a very difficult time playing repetitive games, I felt that my mindset was totally changed knowing that Hit The Pillar was allowing me to work towards something like character unlocks. This is definitely a breakthrough feature that ensures awesome replay value.
Another awesome thing about Hit The Pillar is that the landscape changes constantly. You can play through a totally new backdrop with each new game, and even the dimensions of the board change from 2-D to 3-D. This can really throw off your spatial awareness, making the game even more challenging.
Final thoughts – totally worth it!
When it comes to value, naturally you can’t beat the price of free. Hit The Pillar does have ads at the bottom of the screen that are visible during gameplay, but they don’t flash or make any sort of visual noise. Plus, gameplay is designed so that you’re rarely touching the bottom of the screen. You can choose to disable ads via in-app purchase.
Overall, Hit The Pillar is an incredibly addicting game for iPhone and iPad. I had a very hard time putting it down, and I’m sure the same will be true for you!
Hit The Pillar requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
