Kidz Fun is a children’s app for iPhone and iPad that’s full of fantastic activities and content. If you’re a parent who is looking for a great educational app that will keep your child occupied and entertained, this is definitely worth checking out.
One of the tricky things about children’s apps is that they tend to focus on one subject or activity. Eventually kids can become bored with the app, which is never a good thing. Kidz Fun, developed by Gomathy Shankaran, takes the opposite approach by giving kids a wide variety of things to do. Plus, the app is very educational.
When you first open Kidz Fun, you’re greeted with a menu that’s very well organized. The list of activities for kids to enjoy includes alphabet practice, numbers, songs, stories, and quiz questions. The alphabet and numbers sections take kids through all 26 letters of the alphabet and numbers 1 through 10. For the alphabet, each letter features a visual representation of an object that starts with that letter. The same goes for numbers.
For songs and stories, kids can choose from a wide variety of nursery rhymes and famous stories to listen to. All stories and songs available in Kidz Fun come in the form of streaming YouTube videos, so it’s important to make sure your device has internet access. It’s worth noting that the other elements of the app do not require an internet connection, though.
Lastly, the questions section in Kidz Fun is where kids can answer a wide variety of questions that test a multitude of knowledge areas. Questions include counting objects and answering what letter something starts with. One of the things I really like is that the questions are easy to understand and many of them go beyond counting and the alphabet.
Kidz Fun does offer and in-app purchase for $1.99 which unlocks the Videos/Images section located at the bottom of the screen. Once purchased, kids can access animated videos for each letter of the alphabet. In this section, each letter of the alphabet represents a mode of transportation or vehicle.
One last thing to mention about Kidz Fun is that it features support for many different languages spoken around the world. In order to change language settings for songs and stories, simply tap on the settings button at the bottom of the screen and select from English, Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Arabic, French, and Tamil.
Overall, I think Kidz Fun is a fantastic iOS app that will definitely keep kids occupied. Plus, you can’t beat the price of free, especially when it comes to something that has as much content as this app does. Parents don’t have to worry about kids getting into trouble with external links, as everything is secured via complex math equations that change every time something is accessed.
Kidz Fun requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
