If you’re a frequent visitor, you’re well aware of how much we love word games here at iOS App Lists. Not only are they fun and challenging, but new games pop up all the time. Wordz! is a relatively new game by EGO Systems, Inc. that offers fast-paced gameplay with endless potential.
Wordz! is a unique game in that it feels like a combination of genres and styles all rolled into one experience. The basics are simple – tap falling letters in order to form words and earn points. You have a limited amount of time to make a word, and the timer resets when a word is submitted.
As the timer counts down, letter tiles fall faster and it becomes increasingly difficult to find the letter you need, tap it, and confirm the word at the top of the screen. If you don’t make a word in time or you submit an invalid word, you receive a strike. Three strikes and the game is over.
I’m a big fan of tutorials, especially interactive ones, and Wordz! features a lengthy introduction for new players who need to learn the ropes. I noticed that the intro/tutorial covers pretty much everything about the game, so you’ll be playing in no time.
An awesome feature of Wordz! is the ability to toggle between three difficulty levels, including easy, hard, and crazy. Each level has custom settings that change various factors in the game.
The primary difference between difficulties is the minimum number of letters needed to make a word. Easy mode requires 3 letters, hard requires 4, and crazy requires 5. Unlike many other games with varying degrees of difficulties, I noticed that Wordz! seems to have everything just right. Many games tend to have an extremely wide gap in gameplay experience between difficulties, but this one is perfect.
I reviewed Wordz! on my iPad and I love the fact that everything is big and easy to see/tap. This is a game that will have you tapping your screen frantically in order to form words and submit them, so this is a pretty important factor in the overall gameplay experience.
If you’re a fan of Game Center, you’ll be happy to know that Wordz! not only supports it, but includes 45 achievements to chase after, as well as leaderboards for each difficulty level.
Lastly, Wordz! is available to download from the App Store for free and is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad. There are in-app purchases for buying backspaces and disabling ads, though, but you can earn backspaces by watching ads and/or sharing the game via social media.
Overall, Wordz! is an awesome word game that I can’t recommend enough. It’s challenging and fun. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
