Kids Can Learn about the Human Body with Body Parts – Basic for iOS

There certainly isn’t a shortage of educational apps available for iPhone and iPad. These apps cover pretty much every subject, from language learning to math and everything in between. Body Parts – Basic is a fun app that teaches kids about different parts of the body through images and audio.

Body Parts – Basic, developed by Gomathy Shankaran, is a unique kids app that uses pictures to help youngsters learn about the human body. The main screen of the app shows 7 different body parts: eyes, nose, ears, lips, hands, fingers, and feet.

Tapping on one of the body parts reveals an illustration that shows the location of the part on the body, along with a cute sound aid that speaks the word of the part. This is really helpful for young kids who are learning, so I definitely recommend enabling audio and/or using headphones with Body Parts – Basic.

One of the things I really like about Body Parts – Basic is that kids are free to navigate the app as they please. This is great for kids who enjoy exploring apps without being locked into a focused path of learning.

Also, Body Parts – Basic features a separate learning section that covers three main parts of the body: upper, middle, and, lower parts. Each section shows a brief animated video that points out each part. This is a great way to see the “bigger picture” and keep kids interested.

Lastly, there’s a quiz section included in Body Parts – Basic. Each question asks kids, “Which picture shows a *body part*?”, which is a great way for kids to practice what they’ve learned in the app.

For parents who are looking for a safe and distraction-free learning environment, Body Parts – Basic doesn’t include ads or in-app purchases. Though there’s a Facebook link to the app’s page on the main screen, it’s protected by a math equation.

Overall, Body Parts – Basic is a great educational app for young kids who are learning about different parts of the human body. I think the price of $2.99 is a bit steep for the app, though, but it’s worth mentioning that it’s a universal app.

Body Parts – Basic requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
