Hairy Phonics 1 Is a Must-Have Learning App for iOS

I’ve always subscribed to the belief that the iPad is an invaluable educational tool, primarily because kids learn how to use the device so quickly. Naturally this means there are a ton of educational apps available on the App Store. Hairy Phonics 1 is one such app, and it aims to teach kids phonemic basics through fun games and exercises.

Hairy Phonics 1 does an absolutely fantastic job of delivering educational content in a way that kids will enjoy. There’s a cute opening sequence that gives kids a background story of the game, too.

When the sequence is finished, kids can practice 9 different phonemes. There are handy tutorials for each activity, so your child shouldn’t have difficulty with figuring out what the activity requires of them.

One of the coolest things about Hairy Phonics 1 is that it offers plenty of variety, which means kids are less likely to get bored by doing the same thing over and over again.

Children can practice tracing letters, too, and I believe that this particular exercise is what really helps to set Hairy Phonics 1 apart from other phonics apps.

I do want to mention is that Hairy Phonics 1 is the first app in a series of three, totaling 27 phonemes for children to learn. I really like this approach, primarily because kids won’t be overwhelmed with information if they practice with one app at a time.

Hairy Phonics 1 really shines when it comes to animations and effects, too. We all know how much kids love things that move, and I was truly impressed with how much detail was put into this app. It definitely feels more like a game, which should encourage kids to really get immersed in the learning experience.

Also, Hairy Phonics 1 focuses very strongly on building reading skills, and this is evident through constant audio feedback for every word that kids are practicing. Pronunciations are very clear and easy to understand, as well.

Lastly, I want to stress just how fun Hairy Phonics 1 really is. Unlike other comparable iPad phonetic apps, Hairy Phonics 1 doesn’t feel like a learning app. Even parents will enjoy playing along with kids, visiting the Hairies, and playing their games.

Overall, Hairy Phonics 1 is a phonetic learning app that is perfect for young children. It’s very easy to navigate, full of fun activities, and incredibly educational. Plus, the app is universally compatible with iPhone and iPad.

Be sure to check out Hairy Phonics 2 and Hairy Phonics 3 for the complete Hairy Phonics learning experience.

Hairy Phonics 1 requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

  1. One more educational app for kids is Spyglass. it is a perfect tool to teach kids safely explore outdoors, train the sense of direction and make sure that they will find their way wherever they are. It’s a favourite “toy” of my kids that keeps them occupied outdoors rather than in front of TV or computer. https://itunes.apple.com/app/spyglass/id332639548?mt=8
