Heartkick for iPhone Lets You Discover New Music Based on Your Heartbeat

If you’re a fan of music, there are plenty of apps available on the App Store that let you add tunes to your workout, discover new artists, and listen to a seemingly infinite number of songs. Heartkick, developed by Nicola Miotto, is an awesome iPhone app that lets you discover new music based on your heartbeat.

Personally I’ve never come across an app like Heartkick. There are apps available that let you set a pace to your music if you’re working out, as well as find artists similar to your favorites, but an app that finds music based on your pulse is pretty awesome.

To use Heartkick, simply open the app and browse through the brief tutorial. There are a few useful slides that describe exactly what the app does, which certainly helps new users. Once you’re done reading, grant Heartkick access to the camera, place your finger over the lens (make sure you’re covering the camera flash) and wait until the app finds your heart rate.

Once Heartkick has your heart rate, it’ll load songs from SoundCloud based on your genre preferences. This creates an endless playlist of new songs, all of which are totally free.

Another benefit to streaming music from SoundCloud is that you might even find a new favorite song and/or artist. This leads me to the one thing I believe Heartkick is missing, which is a way to save songs you like so you can find them later. This could be as simple as recording the artist and song title to a list.

Also, Heartkick lets users easily adjust the heart rate from the song screen. Simply tap the heart rate number and slide your finger left or right to raise or lower the number. Heartkick will load a new song that correlates with the heart rate.

I really like the fact that Heartkick is easy to navigate and even easier to figure out. New users won’t have to spend time figuring out how to use the app. Everything is self-explanatory, which is always a plus.

Overall, Heartkick is a must-have iPhone app for music lovers who are looking for something new to try. Not only is it a great way to find new songs and artists, but it’s a high-tech way to tap into your heartbeat and find songs that suit your mood. I definitely recommend giving Heartkick a shot!

Heartkick requires iOS 7.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.
