Pedometer – Walk, Map, and Share Your Steps is an app created by Mars Tech LLC. that allows you to track steps, distance, and pace on your walk or your run. The app is designed for iPhone and Apple Watch.
One of the first things I noticed about Pedometer is that the interface is incredibly plain and it almost seems like the app was designed for Apple Watch, not the iPhone. This isn’t necessarily a drawback, but it isn’t as visually optimized as it should be.
Pedometer allows you to easily see current and historical statistics for your total steps taken from the main screen. At the bottom of the screen you can see your past performance on a weekly basis. You can change the data view by tapping on the settings menu at the top of the screen.
Pedometer allows you to cycle between the circular data view, a line graph, and a bar graph that depicts whether or not you achieved your target goal.
“Pedometer – Walk, Map, and Share Your Steps” Video Review
Unlike many other pedometer apps, Pedometer requires you to manually begin tracking your steps. You can’t open the app and leave it running in the background to track your steps. To do this, you have to tap on the settings menu and tap on the running icon. From here you must manually add a trip and the app will zoom in on your location and begin tracking your steps and distance traveled.
One workaround I found is to disable location tracking if you just want to use Pedometer as a pedometer and not a distance tracker. If you choose to use it for the latter, it means your GPS on your phone will be running constantly and your battery is much more likely to drain.
Another thing I noticed about Pedometer is that I couldn’t find a way to change measurement settings from meters and kilometers to feet and miles.
When it comes down to it, I have a hard time justifying the $0.99 price tag for an app that requires you to do an awful lot of work in order to track steps. Personally I think Pedometer is geared much more towards athletes and serious walkers who want to track their distance, not towards anyone who wants to track their steps all day.
Pedometer – Walk, Map, and Share Your Steps requires iOS 9.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

It's OK
A bland interface and lack of constant background tracking means Pedometer falls a bit short. It's geared more towards serious walkers and runners, not everyday users.
