WherezIT for iPhone Helps You Keep Track of Stashed Valuables

When you leave home for an extended period of time, chances are you place your valuables in a secret spot where no one can find them. The problem? Eventually you forget where you stashed your stuff. WherezIT, developed by Alexandra Nash, is a handy iPhone app that helps you keep track of where you hide your valuables so you can find them when you return.

I’m not sure about you, but I lose stuff all the time when I put it away for “safe keeping”. WherezIT was made for people like us who tend to forget where they store things. This is definitely an app you didn’t realize you needed until you found out about it.

WherezIT is incredibly simple and easy to use, which is always a good thing. The app isn’t intimidating at all and features a very clean interface with no clunky menus or options to fight with. The developer says that it was “designed for users of every age in mind”, which is always a good thing.

To add an item, simply tap the button at the bottom of the screen, snap a picture of it, and add details like a short description, location, and the item’s category. It took me about a minute to add an item to the database, so you don’t have to worry about making a huge project out of it.

I highly recommend enabling the passcode lock option, as it’ll help keep the locations of your items safe in case you happen to misplace your phone. The app also syncs to iCloud so you don’t have to worry about losing everything if the app is deleted.

One thing that somewhat bugs me about WherezIT is the fact that photos are automatically stored to your device’s camera roll, which could be a bad thing if your photos were compromised somehow, as someone with bad intentions would know exactly what you have and what it looks like. Hopefully an option to disable saving to the camera roll comes about in a future update.

WherezIT is free to download from the App Store and designed for iPhone. However, you’re limited to 10 items in the database, which is very reasonable when it comes to taking the app for a trial run. An in-app purchase for $0.99 unlocks unlimited items, and the price is definitely worth it.

Overall, WherezIT is an incredibly useful app that delivers on its promise to help you safety store valuables without losing track of where you placed them. As I mentioned before, this is an app you didn’t know you needed. Not only is it easy to use, but extra security measures help to protect your database of valuables.

WherezIT requires iOS 7.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

A small administrative fee was paid by the developer for publication of this review, which did not influence the reviewer’s opinion
